Bio
Josie Sanguinetti brings over two decades of experience in law enforcement and public safety to her role as an instructor and curriculum developer at Guardian Training Center. With a career that spans 20 years in law enforcement, including a significant tenure as a school resource officer, Josie has dedicated her life to safeguarding communities and preparing individuals for the unexpected.
Josie’s journey into law enforcement was somewhat unconventional. Initially starting in the fire service in the late 1990s, Josie’s drive to engage with people from all walks of life led her to a career with the Marin County Sheriff’s Office. Her work there, particularly as a school resource officer responsible for 36 schools, honed her skills in threat assessment, active shooter preparation, and workplace violence prevention. These experiences have made her an invaluable asset to Guardian Training Center, where she continues to apply her expertise in a variety of training settings.
At Guardian Training Center, Josie is involved in both on-site and satellite training programs. She conducts threat assessments, leads active shooter preparedness drills, and develops curricula that help organizations navigate the complexities of workplace safety. Her work is driven by a deep commitment to empowering others, whether it's through direct instruction or the development of training materials that are accessible and impactful.
One of Josie’s most notable achievements during her law enforcement career was her involvement in the security efforts at the Jewish Community Center in Marin during a series of bomb threats. Her leadership in these high-stress situations demonstrated her ability to remain calm under pressure and her unwavering dedication to the safety of those she serves. This experience, among others, has solidified her reputation as a reliable and knowledgeable professional in the field of public safety.
Despite her numerous accolades, including the prestigious Enrique Camarena Award, Josie remains grounded. Her focus is not on the recognition she has received but on the tangible impact she makes in the lives of others. Whether she’s leading a training session or writing curriculum, Josie’s goal is to ensure that every individual she works with feels more prepared and confident in their ability to stay safe.
Outside of her professional achievements, Josie is deeply committed to personal growth and community service. Currently, she is working towards completing her college degree, a goal she pursues to set an example for her child about the importance of finishing what you start. Additionally, Josie is learning sign language with the hope of one day assisting assault victims who are deaf or mute—a reflection of her ongoing dedication to serving those in need.
In her personal life, Josie enjoys cooking, baking, and spending time with her family, including her two rescue dogs. She finds joy in teaching her stubborn pets new tricks, a task that mirrors her professional passion for training and educating others. Josie is also known for her love of bourbon and cigars, often sharing these interests with friends and neighbors during community gatherings.
Josie’s approach to her work at Guardian Training Center is deeply humanizing and relatable. She understands that safety training can be an uncomfortable topic for many, but her approachable nature and ability to demystify complex concepts make her an effective and respected instructor. Josie’s passion for her work, combined with her extensive experience and personal commitment to service, make her an integral part of the Guardian Training Center team.
